The two Swedish units of Westinghouse Group, Nuclear fuel and Nuclear Services, take the next step in the modernization of engineering, plant design field and plant management by investing in Ides’ software Master concept.

Westinghouse Sweden has more than 800 employees and is responsible for the boiling water reactor (BWR) technology within each business unit and has to its credit built nine nuclear power plants in Sweden and two in Finland, based on its own independent design.

During the first stage of this modernization process, Westinghouse will start working database oriented with their plant projects. Both Westinghouse units are now replacing IDOK process CAD with Ides proMaster. Existing elMaster licenses will also be updated, as will the database. The functionality in proMaster will be even more refined in order to support Westinghouse’s requirements, needs and working methodology. In order to support Westinghouse through this process, Ides also makes arrangements for installation, training and implementation support in the system.

This is the first step of several in the process to improve the management of Westinghouse’s plant documentation, primarily electricity and process. In order to increase the efficiency in their plant and in their projects, the goal of this first step is to gain improved quality and safety, document control, working methodology, demand data, environmental/ safety classifications and document publishing.
